These Terms of Service govern your use of RecoReads. By creating an account or using our service, you agree to these terms. Please read them — they're written to be clear, not complicated.
The service
RecoReads ("we," "us," "our") provides a children's book recommendation platform available at recoreads.com. Our service helps parents and guardians discover books matched to their child's reading level, interests, and content preferences.
By accessing or using RecoReads, you ("you," "user") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.
Your account
To access personalized recommendations, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering
- Keep your password secure and not share it with others
- Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
- Take responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. RecoReads accounts are for parents and guardians only — children should not create or operate accounts on our platform.
Acceptable use
You agree to use RecoReads only for its intended purpose. You may not:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of our systems or infrastructure
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the site without our written consent
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Submit false or misleading information
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Children
RecoReads is intended for parents and guardians, not children. Our service is designed so that adults manage all account activity on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
By creating an account and entering information about your child, you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian of that child and that you consent to us processing your child's information as described in our Privacy Policy.
Content and recommendations
RecoReads provides book recommendations based on the preferences and information you provide. Our recommendations are:
- Suggestions only — we do not guarantee that every recommended book will be appropriate for your child
- Based on the information you supply, including grade level and content filters you set
- Subject to change as our catalog and recommendation logic evolve
We strive to maintain accurate book information, but we make no guarantees regarding the completeness or accuracy of descriptions, age ratings, or content summaries sourced from third parties. Parents should use their own judgment before purchasing or sharing any book with their child.
Intellectual property
All content on RecoReads — including our logo, design, text, and software — is the property of RecoReads or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of our service without our express written permission.
Book covers, titles, and descriptions remain the property of their respective publishers and authors. We display this content under applicable fair use principles for the purpose of recommendation and discovery.
Disclaimers
RecoReads is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Any specific book recommendation will meet your expectations
- Information on the site is always accurate, complete, or current
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RecoReads and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of RecoReads will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.
Termination
You may delete your account at any time by visiting your account settings or contacting us at privacy@recoreads.com. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your access to RecoReads at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if we discontinue the service. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you if we discontinue the service entirely.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of RecoReads after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
If you do not agree with a material change, you may delete your account before the change takes effect.
